Traffic Department Strength. There has been very little addition to the Traffic Depart
ment strength for several years.
This Section consists of one British Superintendent, two Arab Inspectors, one Pakistan
Havildar (recently arrived), four Arab N.C.O’s, and 37 men.
A much more mobile Traffic Section with literate men is urgently needed to cope with the
increase in vehicles, especially during the evening and night periods.
After sunset there is only an occasional patrol on duty on the roads. Of the Traffic
N.C.O’s and men, only one N.C.O. can be classed as literate. This is a very serious handicap
and imposes most of the work upon the Officers.
Traffic Department Vehicles. One Land Rover and 12 Motor Cycles are allotted to the
Traffic Department.
Revenue. The total revenue for the Traffic Department for the year was Rs. 189,906 2 0.
