answer to the points you raised, and secondly because it was couched in un
becoming language.
But on second thoughts, as you refer to tho possibility of leaving
Bahrain, I have thought it advisable to call you here in order to tell you
clearly that His Majesty’s Government will view with the greatest dis
approval any attempt on your part to leave Bahrain and that they will give
Shaikh Hamad their full support in any reasonable action lie may take to
stop such an exodus, and will if necessary, assist Shaikh Hamad to punish
adequately any persons disobeying his orders. The rulers of neighbouring
Arab countries have been informed of the views of His Majesty’s Govern
ment and requested not to receive or harbour any tribes from Bahrain.
If after this warning, any heads of tribes leave Bahrain, they must take
tho consequences, which will doubtless take the form of confiscation of
their property, the releasing of their divers from their contracts and pre
venting tlicm from pearling.
Take warning therefore and submit yourselves to tho orders of your
Shaikh and remember that any advice the Political Agent gives Shaikh
Hamad is given with the knowledge of and under the instructions of His
Majesty’s Government.
