It io thought th^t tho previous Lovy Corps and Polioo
woro unsatisfactory partly owing to tho following roasons#-
1. Tho mon of tho Lovy Oorpa had insufficient work#
A largo proportion of thorn woro ('not') alwaya^'on
duty# They did one parade a day, lasting not
more than two hours, and sometimes an hour at
O.VC.
games oto# in the morning# While not on Duty
they spent their time in tho batiaars#
The levy dorps provided threo posts of about
six or eight men, Sitra, Bufaa, cor Budaiyah#
These posts woro visited onoe monthly# Con- ;
soquontly men on duty on tho Posts were frequently
found to bo in tho basaar at Manama#
Tho pay of tho Lovy dorps man amounted altogether
to almost Bs# 40/n per month together with
uniform and rations# This would seem excessive#
Insufficient information was obtained about the
anteoodents of many of the men who woro enlisted#
It afterwards transpired that some of them had
served terms of imprisonment and some had boon
discharged from other units for bad conduct#
Laok of p. permanent dommandant was not conductive
to improvements in the dorps#
A number of tho mon spoke neither Arabic nor
Persian#
