                         During 1350 the Bahrain Court heard over 200 more

                      new cases than during the previous year,       The increase
                      in litigation is a sign of the times and the hearing of
                      innumerable cases only confirms the fact that on the

                      whole the financial condition of the general public is
                      extremely had.     Out of this total 218 cases were land
                      disputes or matters concerning registration of titles
                      forwarded to the court by the Land Department.

                         At present the following Bahrain courts exist.
                          The Bahrain Court — The Adviser and Shaikh Sulman
                                                  son of Shaikh Hamad.

                          The Bahrain Small Court       Two Shaikhs of the
                                                 Ruling family.     Cases under
                                                 Bs 200/-.

                          The Sunni Shera Sourt      -  The three Sunni £adis.
                          Two Shia Shera Courts .    -  One Qadi at Manama and
                                                  one at Sinabis.
                          Majlis Tajara           A court of 22 leadi
                                                                     ing merchants
                                                  of whom 11 sit on   alternative
                                                  weeks during one day in the
                                                  week.
                          All cases are filed in the Bahrain Court and then if
                      not dealt with there they are passed on to the court

                      competent to deal with them.
                          At the end of the year the Bahrain Court had about
                      300 new suits which had not been dealt with and both

                      the Shi* courts had accumulated several hundred cases
                      which they had not had time to settle.
                          The Bahrain Court sits three times a week from

                      8 a.m. till 2 p.m. but in spite of this it is impossible
                      to get the work done.      During the year the number of
