Considering that the pearl season during 1344 was admittedly
a poor one, this lnorea3e Is very satisfactory. The Increase
under sugar and tea has possibly 9ome connection with the
Increased taxes on these commodities in Persia.
2. Kotor Licenses. An axtentlon of the time allowed for
paying these lloenses was cade at the end of 1345 according to
which the lloenseB for 1346 fall due on the end of Maharara 46,
and ’therefore only a few are inoluded in 1345.
3. Rents. Owing to the badness of the pearl catch and the
poor date harvest in 1344 the “Euler granted a 20$ reduction
from the leases of all dategardens. -his, and the sales of
various gardens which previously belonged to the Government,
have resulted in a smaller revenue during 1345. About half
of the dategardens belonged previously to the Lawasir, and
have now been returned to them which result in a further
decrease of revenue in 1346.
4. Judicial Reoeipts. The total receipts under this head
are made up as follows.

3. Stamps on Leases of

The total increase over 1344 is Rs. 8,050/-, which is due
mainly to the ever increasing amount of litigation.
5. Miscellaneous. This item inoludes sale of certain surplus
building material.
