The Shaikhdom of Kuwait may be cited as an example of how an
Arabian Gulf Shaikhdom can, while still being under the protection of
i

_. power of the Gulf Shaikhdoms, to mention here some of the Inter
national Organisations of the United Nations joined by Kuwait
when she was technically still a British protected State. In chrono
logical order, these are: (1) International Telecommunication Union

of 22 December 1952.2 (2) World Health Organisation of 7 April
1948.3 (3) International Civil Aviation Organisation of 7 December
1944.4 (4) Universal Postal Union of 5 July 1947 (as revised at Brussels
