Consul Abotts writes from Aleppo that nothing was talked more confidently
u of at Constantinople and that it was considered by the Ministers there as
cortainly concluded on.
Some days after Mr. Smith’s departure a small parcel of silk was brought
to the faotory with a paper written by him mentioning that it should°bo
delivered to Shaik Sadoon and was valued by the brokers of Bombay at
the Pucoa Seer 3J of whioh make a maund tabarcr. Wo havo kept this silk
until wo know Your Honour, &ca., pleasure regarding the vackccl’s proposed
contract concluding it to bo part of the musters Mr. Garden took with him
to Bombay.
The Bussorah Council drew upon us for R6,270-3-7 for part payment of the
presents and wo havo supplied them on that acoount with 10 pieces of superfine
cloth 2 of fine and 10 of Pcrpcts. Our sales in last month were 10 pieces of
Perpets at 24 rupees and 2 at 22 rupees each.
Wo enclose a duplicate of our last respects and duplicate copy of the
Inventory of the Effects of John Paul Schedcl deceased and are with the
greatest respeot.

The Terrible Bomb : Ketch arrived here the 16th Juno with Gruft Ereight
for this place and sailed on the 18 th for Bussora.
Sale of woolen at It is with great concern we aro to inform Your Honour, &ca., that we have
Buihire. not hitherto been able to make any sales notwithstanding the fresh assortment
of woollens brought us by the Drab, which we consider the more unfortunate
on account the heavy debt wo have been obliged to contraot on behalf of the
Hon’ble Company principally to supply the necessities of the Bussora Gentle
men whioh is running on at interest and by the enclosed Quick Stock amounts
to Rupees
now at stand
This, however, must be attributed to the season, all trade being
here, and the time for Sale of Woollens in particular seldom happens before
