CCXLII.
Translation of a Firman from Jafir Khan, September 1788.
! Ia the name of the Almighty Glorious God.
The most exalted Firmaum hath thus gone forth.
After compliments,— And at this time the thiugs which.accompanied
Akan Allee one of your people, have arrived in the presence of him who is
I! most resplendent residing at the place which is the Asylum of the world and
from the excess of our royal favour towards the most noble we have most
willingly and graciously accepted them as a present and have ordered them to
be laid by in our treasury abounding in Rarities.

Make it known to all the worshippers of Messiah that they shall have our
coustant favor and protection on which account we hope that strangers from all
ports, countries, and kingdoms, will be induced’ to trade to our dominions and
whether they only come in the way of merchants or in the way of travellers or
in order to establish factories our favour to thorn shall be invariable without
end let every one of your nation know the favour which we return towards
them and every acoount or every occasion, and at all times consider our friend
ship for you as unchangeable.
Moreover in order to make our favour for the most noble apparent to the
whole world, we have sent accompanying this Firmaun a Calaat glorious and
shining with gold like the sun and we have sent him this to this exaltation of
his dignity to the ornamenting of his person and io the acquiring of respect
amongst those of his own nation our favour towards him is unchangeable
therefore let him often mako us acquainted, with his health and with what
business he may have at the place of our Royal Residence.
Written on the first day of the blessed Month of Ramzan in the year of the
Hijra one thousand and two.
