Consol, Maskafc,
To—Tho Secretary to the Government of India in tho Foreign Department
■With reference to Foreign Department letter No. 3800-E.A, dated 11th
October 1905, to the address of the Resident in the Persian Gulf, I have the
honour to submit herewith the Annual Deport on tho Trade of Maskat for the
rear 1909-1910. Copies of the report have been submitted to tho Resident and
to the Foreign Office, London.
2. The delay in the submission of the report is due to the great difficulty
experienced in obtaining the requisite information from the Superintendent
of the Sultan's Customs. The information when received proved very inaccurate
and had to he checked and corrected. I have made arrangements to check the
Customs House figures as far as practicable by statistics compiled from ships’
manifests and other sources, and hope that the report will not again he unduly
delayed on this account.
