        lie lied. He told Loch that there were ships of the Joasmi pirates
        in Bahrain harbour. The ships which Loch’s landing party cap­
        tured, with loss of life, belonged to the Beni Yas tribe, who were
        not engaged in piracy, and the Bombay Government eventually
        had to pay compensation for their destruction.
