for the Police arc to be built near Manamah fort, a transport shed with ancillary buildings is to be
completed on the land cast of the fort, where all Government transport will be concentrated, and orders
have been placed for two more customs sheds. Accommodation for foreign school teachers is becoming
a problem so suitable quarters arc to be built above the Technical School and the workshop. During
the year the State bought back a piece of land on the shore at Qudhabia which had been sold to the
British Government in 1936, it is proposed that a new palace for the Ruler should be built on this site
and for this purpose Rs. 3 lakhs have been allocated much of which will be spent on building materials
to be purchased from the United Kingdom. The sum of Rs. 4 lakhs will be spent upon roads and
pavements. During the last two years the Public Works Department has carried out extensive
road work in Manamah, though legitimately this is the responsibility of the Manamah Municipality
authorities, they have not, however, sufficient funds or equipment to undertake the work.
