Saiba district. Work which will be done by contract includes another extension to thc’Police
married lines and a second group of small houses to be let to working men and their families,
at low rents. It is expected that additional British staff will shortly be required in the Electric
Department and the P.W.D., quarters for them will be constructed in the “Old Quarantine
Station” near the B.O.A.C. flying boat jetty. Most of the main roads arc now in good order
but 31 lakhs has been allowed for new road work and for town pavements. The town water
supply is constantly expanding and provision has been made for extending it during the year.
The surplus for investment is expected to be 32 lakhs, this being on the assumption that the
revenue is as shown in this Budget which does not take into consideration the additional oil
revenue under the proposed 50-50 agreement.
