                       with a crew of 8 persons, besides 51 slaves (30 males and 2t femalesl and 5 passengers
                       was destroyed. The owners of the said slaves were seized by the said H. M. S. Philomel
                       in latitude 21° 6' and longitude 490 14' E. on the x 8th October 1884.
                          The said Court having heard the evidence produced on each side, and having found
                       sufficient proof that the said Arab dhow Fateh-aUKhair was, at the time of her capture,
                       actually engaged in the slave trade, doth adjudge the said Arab dhow Fateh-al-Khair and
                       the 51 slaves (30 males and 21 females), and the money and valuables found on the said
                       dhow to have been lawfully seized and to be forfeited to our Sovereign Lady the Queen
                       and do condemn the same accordingly.                        ~
                          And the said Court further finds that it was impracticable to bring the said Arab dhow
                       Fateh-al-Khair into this port for adjudication, and the officers of H. M. S. Philomel
                       were justified in destroying the same.
                          And the said 31 slaves having been landed and liberated, it is ordered that they be
                       assigned service in Aden, or be otherwise provided for as the Political Resident at Aden
                       may think fit.
                          In testimony whereof I have signed the present decree and caused the seal of the Vice-
                       Admiralty Court to be affixed thereto, this 30th day of October 1884.

                           I have the honor to report that the Sultan of Zanzibar's steamer Malacca arrived here
                       on the night of the 30th November, having on board the nakhoda, slave-dealers and crew
                       found in the dhow, captured by H. M. S. Philomel off Musurah Island, who had oe
                       despatched by the Resident at Aden under a police escort.
                           2. On my communicating the fact to His Highness the Sultan, he at once sent.
                       board and took charge of the Arabs, and has imprisoned the nakhoda and four slave-dealers
                       in. Jelali fort. The crew of the dhow, eight in number, have been released.
