In addition to the export of oil by the Bahrain Petroleum Company, oil coke was exported to
Iraq towards the end of the year.
Another export which at one time appeared to have possibilities of developing was the export
of coral stone which was required for military purposes in Basrah.
Staff. The customs personnel was increased during the year owing to the need for more clerks
to work on Food Control and rationing. All the persons employed on this work are Bahrain subjects
most of them being young men from the Government schools with no previous government service.
