             which had formed the roof, we next dislodged.
             The hieroglyphics on these were in a beautiful

             state of preservation. The only part of these
             yet deciphered is a character which Cham-
             poll ion* translates “ statue colossal/’ and
             found in the dedicatory inscriptions on those
             gigantic statues at Luxor. The Greek tablet,
             of which unfortunately a considerable portion
             is wanting, bears the following inscription:

             which is apparently a dedicatory inscription
             by a King of Egypt, who had for Queen a
             Cleopatra, his own sister. This was the case
