WILDCAT FAMILY
1. Ryan Vargas, son of Janet Vargas ’06, is stationed q w
in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. He is
preparing the next Arizona Wildcat generation: his
son and Janet’s grandson, Nashoba.
2. The son of Gina Georgelos ’94 ’98, Mateo, was
a guest of the Arizona basketball team when they
played Utah in January. Mateo wore his original
Arizona Wildcats jersey. After the game, he was
able to take a few pictures with his favorite player,
Parker Jackson-Cartwright. Mateo works hard on his
basketball game with his tutor and coach and has
aspirations to become a part of the Arizona Wildcat
family in the future.

are, from left: Michael Pereira, Briley Miller, Lauren
Miller ’04, Bodie Miller, Cale Miller ’04 and Jamie
Pereira ’07.
4. Graham Kerns Marvel was born Dec. 6, 2016, to
Jennifer Kerns and Kevin B. Marvel ’90. Kevin is
the executive officer of the American Astronomical
Society in Washington, D.C., and Jennifer serves the
nation’s veterans through her work at the VA hospital.
Graham looks forward to being a Wildcat just like his
father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The family
lives in Bethesda, Maryland.
WEDDINGS q w
1. Herman Sanchez ’86 and Jeffrey
Shinn were married Oct. 14, 2016. The
ceremony was witnessed by 40 guests
and was held a few feet from the ocean
on Buccaneer Beach in their hometown
of Oceanside, California. A private
reception at their home followed the
ceremony.
2. Lauren Sekora ’08 and Javier Escobar
’10 were married April 1, 2016. Despite
both being UA students, they didn’t e
meet until after graduation when they
were working in the same building on
campus. They tied the knot at the Stillwell
House in downtown Tucson and featured
all their local favorites: El Charro food,
Dragoon beer, tres leches cake and Ben’s
Bells favors!
3. Ben Butler ’15 and Jen Evans Butler ’15
were married March 18, 2016. In photo:
