                                                                   simply didn’t take the time to understand or appreciate.
                                                                      “All to say: Upon arriving back to Pittsburgh after the graduation
                                                                   ceremonies, I knew I had to become a UA career coach, both to serve
                                                                   in whatever capacity I could and to — a decade later, I know — finally
                                                                   find a way to utilize a network I’ve felt but haven’t tapped into.

                Caterpillar Inc., which moved its surface
                mining and technology offices to Tucson in
                2016, partnered with the University of Arizona
                College of Engineering to offer a yearlong
                master’s-level mining certificate program
                to the company’s leaders, called Mining 360.
                In August 2017, the first 12 professionals to
                complete the executive training program
                received their certificates, and a second cohort
                began the program in September 2017.
                   “This is a very innovative program,” says
                UA President Robert C. Robbins. “It’s the kind
                of thing we seek to do in partnership with the
                city and industry.”
                   GEICO, Caterpillar and the Salt River Project
                all signed partnerships in 2016 with the UA
                in an important move to expand educational
                access to their employees via UA Online.
