Visionnaire was engaged by a private client to define a devel- opment strategy and prepare the corresponding masterplan for a prime waterfront site along the Mediterranean coast.
Visionnaire’s strategy proposed the development of an ‘urban village’ built around a sequence of public courtyards lined with shops, restaurants and galler- ies. A pedestrian route through the courtyards connects the main boulevard to the beachside prom- enade. The sequence culminates in a large public garden which will be overlooked by a luxury boutique hotel and associated ser- viced residential apartments.
Our proposal envisioned the crea- tion of a new, dynamic waterfront neighbourhood facing the Medi- terranean. The design is sensi- tive to the urban characteristics of the Mediterranean city, the courtyards, the active roofs, the narrow streets and low-lying build- ings - and reinterprets them in a modern idiom.
