Visionnaire undertook a feasibili- ty and masterplanning study to as- sess the redevelopment potential of a prime waterfront site in the Galata district of Istanbul.
The Istanbul International Cruise Terminal currently occupies this waterfront complex of historic buildings and decommissioned warehouses. Visionnaire’s study encompassed strategic planning, market analysis, zoning analysis, programme definition and op- tions appraisal. Visionnaire also prepared a masterplan and urban design strategy which would un- lock the development potential of this site.
Visionnaire proposed the devel- opment of a dynamic tourism, leisure, cultural and entertain- ment quarter. The plan provided for an entirely public promenade along the 1.2km waterfront, made possible by the adoption of an in- novative approach to the design of a new Cruise Terminal and Pas- senger Quay.
