 PERSPECTIVES BY SKC
2. When one is helplessly angry with oneself
At times, one ends up making such huge mistakes in life that it seems there is no way to rectify them. One loses all hope and courage to face life. Such people take the ‘ultimate revenge’ from themselves.
However, who suffers as a result of this revenge in reality?
It is the families and the friends of the victims who suffer all through their lives. A dear one
commits suicide and the family is left behind to figure out the reason. I have been observing and
helping such people very closely. And, I must share that the suffering is unimaginable. It leads to lifelong depression and pain in disintegrated and displaced families. Top all of it with the social stigma. No one recovers from this shock. And, the remaining life becomes mere existence for all the people that are left behind.
The guilt within these people, especially in family members and close friends is unbearable and unfathomable. And, on top of that, there is no one in their lives from whom they can seek forgiveness.
So, my question is to all of those who have contemplated suicide even once in their lifetime - why do you wish to subject your loved ones to this ultimate revenge? Merely because they are unable to take out time for you? Or because they do not understand your thoughts and perceptions?
Do you think that their crime is so extreme that they deserve to suffer for the rest of their lives? In my opinion, it is better that you shout at them, fight with them for their attention, beg them for help, or distance yourself from their cruel psychological torture. But, Suicide is not the remedy you are seeking.
Come on! Play a fair game. Give them a chance to live, breathe, and to introspect. They may come
around one day. But, do not wage this dirty one-sided war of suicide. It is a cowardly and cruel act.
Look around. Help is there, love is there. You just have to ask. Is it too tough?
Open your heart and accept life.
