HOW SKC WORLD SPREAD CONSCIOUSNESS FROM JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2020
Spreading Consciousness Globally through a Webinar with Geneva Group International (GGI)
on Maintaining Emotional Wellbeing during the uncertain times
In September, Leadership and Transformational Change Special Interest Group Chairperson Mr Sameer Kamboj hosted a webinar on “Maintaining Emotional Wellbeing during the uncertain times” along with co-host Mr Ashishkumar Bairagra and special guest and a non-GGI member Mr Mrinal Sinha. The intent of the webinar was to throw light on real-time cases of M&A deal-making and deep dive into the minds of the key stakeholders involved in such transactions to understand their emotional thoughts, compulsions, and patterns which enable their decision making in those critical times.
Mr Sameer Kamboj shared insights on what “emotional wellbeing” or “emotional health” actually
means, why do leaders need it, and how this is relevant in situations like M&A transactions. He shared how our emotional brain is geared to choose either of only “fight or flight” as a primitive reaction, which a human brain is wired to produce in any situation. This, in the business world, impacts our thoughts and behaviours while we are negotiating, making decisions, deciding on the fair transaction value and so on. This background understanding of how emotions get produced and drive us enabled the members to reflect on some of their own past instances.
Ashishkumar then shared very apt examples of how lack of clarity on an emotional level in minds of successful leaders ultimately leads to great potential go waste. In the example he shared about a successful family business being split among brothers, highlighted the deep emotions of ego, lack of trust and fear among them which were emerging out of:
Lack of self-acceptance
Relationship issues - personal lives or work colleagues Loss of autonomy
Loss of control over current conditions
Lack of clarity of the purpose in life.
