The Patrol Patrol Patrol Division overseen by a a a a a a a a a Patrol Patrol Patrol Commander and and Patrol Patrol Patrol Lieutenant is is the uniformed police officers branch that responds to to calls for for service 24-hours a a a a a a a a a a a day day 365-days a a a a a a a a a a a year Officers proactively monitor assigned areas for for crimes traffic incidents or or citizen concerns public nuisances and other quality of life issues Staffing includes twenty-five (25) Uniformed Patrol Patrol Officers seven (7) Patrol Patrol Sergeants six (6) Corporals a a a a a a a a a Traffic Unit Homeless Outreach Team and Detention Center consisting of a a Senior Detention Detention Officer Officer and four (4) Detention Detention Officers The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) overseen by a a a a a Commander is is divided in in two subsections General Assignments and Community Resource Enforcement Unit (street crimes section) each supervised by a a a a a Detective Sergeant Staffing includes the two (2) Detective Sergeants twelve (12) detectives one one Criminal Intelligence Administrator and one one Crime Scene Investigation Technician The AJPD is committed to to serving its community and remains open to to programs initiatives or specialized staffing that will aid the the department in its commitment to to customer service excellence For this reason the the Police – – Media – – Community Relations Liaison Corporal position position was created and reports directly to the Chief This position position serves as as a a a a a a a a a liaison between AJPD and and the community community community as a a a a a a a a conduit attending certain community community community meetings collaborating on on community community community issues and and assisting with officer officer officer wellness and and officer officer officer training The Corporal also oversees two officers one one DARE and and one one School Resource Officer The AJPD ascribes to the the “Team Community Policing” concept which requires the the continuous creation of of o relationships within the the community As such command staff assigns specific geographic areas of of o the the City and and officers patrol those areas on a a a a a a a regular basis Officers welcome the the opportunity to to meet members of the the community to to ensure that policing strategies are are consistent with the the needs and expectations of the the community AJPD employees are are committed to building and and maintaining partnerships with the the community and and welcome the the opportunity ■ CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES The next Chief of Police will be presented with known challenges and opportunities:

plus homes in a a a a a a a Master Planned Community will also challenge the the new Chief to assess service levels and the the possible development of other police facilities in in in the the next several years This increase in in in population will undoubtedly require more attention and and increase public safety calls for service and and local traffic issues »
The Police Police Department is is is not unionized it it it has a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a police association that provides ideas and and and initiates discussion of of of various aspects of of law enforcement with the Chief of of Police
