The Police Police Chief oversees directs and and participates in in in all activities of the Police Police Department including short- and and long-range planning development and and administration of departmental policies procedures and and services The Police Chief provides assistance to the City Manager in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a variety of administrative coordinative analytical and liaison capacities Successful performance of of the work requires knowledge of of public policy municipal functions and and and activities including the the role of an an an an elected City Council and and and the the ability to develop oversee and and and implement projects and programs in in in in a a a a a a a a a variety of of areas Responsibilities include coordinating the the activities of of the the Department with those of other departments and and and and agencies and and and and managing and and and and overseeing the the complex and and and and varied functions of the Department The incumbent is is accountable for accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals goals and and and objectives objectives and and and for furthering City goals goals and and and objectives objectives within general policy guidelines
