Senior Counsel
The Senior Counsel
is is a a a a a a a career position well suited to an accomplished legal professional with a a a a a a a strong commitment to public service The Office of General Counsel
is a a a a a small mutually supportive team Given the breadth of the programs we we we support and legal issues we we we encounter we we we do not expect any one lawyer to have expertise in in all all the potentially applicable fields for for this position Instead we are looking for for an attorney with good judgment flexibility a a a a a a a a a cooperative approach with other members of o the the office and and agency staff and and a a a a a a a a a willingness to dive in in and learn new areas of law as as needed Core areas supported by OGC include Brown Act and conflicts advice public procurement contract negotiation and litigation management We also frequently engage in employment law issues environmental and and planning advice federal funds administration and and public finance The new Senior Counsel
will be expected to exercise independent legal judgment and and interact with staff and and Commission members directly with support and and coordination from the the the General Counsel
and and other members of o the the the office OGC staff frequently provide advice and consultation to each other particularly on on on new or or thorny issues We also have a a a a a a a a a bench of outside counsel available where particular expertise is is required
