The The City City City of of Lathrop is is a a a a a a a General Law City City City The The City City City Council Council consists of of the Mayor and and four Council Council Members and and acts as the the the policy-making body for the the the City City of Lathrop The City City Council members are the the the elected representatives of of of of the the citizens of of of of the the City City of of of of Lathrop The City City Council has also formed a a a a a a variety of of of of commissions and committees to to assist the the the City in in in the the the information gathering and and deliberative process Commissions and and committees are vital to to the the the operation of the the the City and ensure public involvement in in the the the governmental process The goal of of the the the the Council is is to to govern the the the the City in a a a a a manner that is is both responsive to to the the the the needs and concerns of of the the the the residents and and and is financially sound The City Council enacts and and and enforces ordinances and and and regulations that concern municipal affairs subject only to the the limitations and restrictions of the the State Constitution The City Council as a a a a a a a a body supervises and provides guidance for for the the activities of of the the City City The City City operates with a a a a a current workforce of of approximately 135 FT employees and a a a a a a Fiscal Year 21-22 budget of $151 3 3 million NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT OPENS JULY 1 2022
The City will end its contract with San Joaquin County Sheriff and and commission a a a a a a a brand new Lathrop Police Department at the start of of next Fiscal Year on July 1 2022
