About The Organization
The Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) is a a a a a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization that consists of of parks and recreation professionals students and citizen advocates who share a a a a a a common passion for advocacy education networking and offering quality services to their communities TRAPS was founded in 1937 to facilitate the exchange of ideas and and experience to park recreation and and leisure service professionals throughout the the state After 82 years serving the the park recreation and leisure services industries TRAPS is is larger than ever serving over 2 2 200 members across Texas Early this year TRAPS unveiled its new new branding strategy with a a a a a new new logo that that represented everything that that the industry is – care health nature and fun! From this foundation came the “TRAPS CARES” icon consisting of of four (4) heart-shaped leaves each representing a a a a a cornerstone of of CARE - Connection Advocacy Resources and Education The leaves pieced together forms the the great state of Texas The new logo is also a a a a a celebration of of the the the the decades of of service the the the the TRAPS membership has put in in in in to making the the the the Society and the the the the industry in in in in Texas great TRAPS has come together to to to to learn support and and and grow parks and and and recreation – and and and that’s how we CARE In an an an an effort to to to to be be a a a a a a a a a a resource to to to to our our members and and and and partners TRAPS focuses on

on
educating and and and and articulating the value of of parks and and and and recreation and and and and serves as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a foundation for building a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Quality of of Life that helps improve the social economic environmental and mental mental health of communities By taking a a a a a a a a a vested interest in in in in developing such amenities communities are offering benefits that not only boost the economy but attract homebuyers and businesses to put roots down in in in a a a a a a community which in in turn impacts property value and encourages businesses to to to relocate to to to areas where a a a a a a a a a talent pool of employees love to to to live TRAPS helps advocate and and and communicate the benefits and and and positive impact that accessibility to parks recreation programming and and and outdoor spaces has on
a a a a a a a community Such benefits include providing opportunities to be be be physically active in in in in in combating the epidemic of obesity creating a a a a a a a refuge for at-risk youth or or or reducing stormwater management and and maintenance costs from green infrastructure Parks and and Recreation also has an an an an an economic impact on
