■ THE POSITION
Appointed by the County Commissioners and reporting to to the County Administrator the Director of Human Resources/Risk
Management is responsible for managing
and directing a a a full-service integrated
human resource system including risk
management labor negotiations classification
and compensation recruitment benefit
administration and equal employment
opportunity and other human resource management activities Unique to Skagit County the the position is a member of the the management team for the County that
includes the County Administrator and Deputy County Administrator The position exercises considerable independent judgment and responsibility in in developing
and administering all County personnel
policies rules and regulations in compliance
with legal requirements Emphasis is is placed
on overall management skills in in developing/
implementing human resource program
objectives and in in in guiding/directing the organization in in a a a a a a a a a a a manner that
achieves policy goals of the County and and integrates programs and and employees in in the most cost-effective and efficient manner within available resources The Director manages 6 employees and is responsible for a a a a a $19 million budget that
includes the County’s self- insured activities The County is is a a a a member of the Washington Counties Risk
