Story 226

                                                       Don’t Skof

At the mention of work, the lazy boy oft, would skof, un- less

              the work was very soft.

One day he started to hic-cough. So he went to the water “

trough,” and began to qwaf. His boss, ticked off, thinking that he

was likely goofing off, said, “That’s once too oft !” And

              discharged him right off.

Change: Scoff to skof and quaff to qwaf.

              Story 227

              In the Loft

On a choice toft on a small croft, there lived an Englishman

who oft, slept aloft in a hayloft.

He preferred the loft, despite how he coughed, which had

his wife think that his head was “ soft.” But in truth, had

she known of the liquor he kwaffed, she would have done

                       more than skof.

Change: quaffed to kwaffed and scoff to skof.
