The Red Well-Read Reader

                                                                                                       Story 204

                                                    Not Blithesome

The sharecropper works the fields with scythe

The hard work keep his body very lithe

Though of the profit he keeps but a tithe

Thus the songs that he sings are not so blithe

For deep inside his spirit does writhe

                                                                                                       Story 205

                                                How Success Arrives

It is not enough to be alive. We must strive to op•ti•mal•ly

thrive. We must have the drive to work past five, as busy
bees in a hive. Then, and only then, shall success arrive.

                                                                                                       Story 206
                                                          Unwise

It’s unwise to arise much after sunrise

It’s unwise to make buys of Levi’s of the wrong size

It’s unwise to devise lies to win any prize

                                     And it’s unwiseto harshly criticize

Knowing that later you’re likely to apologize
