        Thrown in the County Tank

                                                                        1st OFFENSE 2nd OFFENSE

In horror people shrank as two men robbed the National Bank. One took

the money while the other guarded the flank.

A witness (whom we thank for being so frank) said, "One was lank and the

other a tank. And phew! they were rank ! I mean to say, they stank !"

Eventually hound dogs found the two, named Frank and Hank, hiding along

a river bank in a cave dingy and dank.

In court Frank said, "It was merely a silly prank. My gun fired but a

blank. Besides, the money is insured by the bank !"

The jury didn't think this was a prank, silly or otherwise, and tossed the
               two in the county tank.

        Story 17

                                                       "Who Can't?"

"Who can't ?" said the ant. "I grant you that I shan't say

                                 can't. I'll climb any plant. I don't care if the fo•li•age is

scant. I don't care if its stem has a sharp slant. And I don't
care how hard I might pant, or how loud Farmer Brown might

                                 rant his ad•mon•ish•ing chant.”
