Debutante Hayley Ann Markum Dennings
Miss Hayley Ann Markum Dennings, daughter of Robin and Erica Dennings, is presented by her father. Hayley
is a junior and athlete at Head-Royce School in Oakland, with a special admiration for English and Science. She
enjoys dance, softball, basketball, and is a member of the Black Student Union. Besides sports and school,
Hayley indulges her love for reading and writing by working in the school library, contacting authors to help
promote their books, hosting a YouTube channel to broadcast book reviews, and writing for Mimp, an online
magazine, whose mission is to empower women and youth. She is also finishing her first novel.
As a member of the Oakland Bay Area Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Hayley attended Teen Confer-
ence in Long Beach and competed in the Teen Oratorical Contest at the Northern Area Work Day in October
2015. She traveled to France as part of a French Exchange program. Hayley performs community service with
her family, school, and Jack and Jill chapter; delivering supplies to the homeless, donating books to the East
Bay Children’s Book Project, collecting supplies for women and families at Elizabeth House, volunteering at the
chapter’s African American Read-In, and helping save sea turtles in Costa Rica. Upon graduation, Hayley will
attend a four year university and pursue a career as a writer, actor, or physician.
