To Our Baby Girl,
We love you little miss and we are so proud to be your parents. Thank you for being you. You brighten every
room you enter. Your strength, your determination, and your willingness to speak up for yourself and those
around you are a rare combination that will serve you well in life. Your selflessness, warmness and caring
heart make you a superb friend, daughter, sister and niece. You’ve always had a strong sense of right and
wrong, don’t ever let go of that. As you embark on your adventure, always remember that life is a series of
choices. Choose wisely. Never stop learning. Continue to be an example to those around you. You are a leader.
Your future is yours to do with as you choose. Hold onto your relationship with God and the lessons you’ve
been taught. You have been blessed with the belief that you can achieve anything. That coupled with your
fearlessness and unwavering faith make you unstoppable. We love you more than you will ever know. May

Debutante Nia Yvonne Dorsey

Miss Nia Yvonne Dorsey, daughter of Janene Grigsby and Michael Dorsey is presented by her father. Nia is a junior
at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, California. She is a scholar-athlete on the Varsity Cheerleading
Squad and the Varsity Stunt team. Outside of school, she is a member of a classical ballet company, The
Ballet Joyeux, the performing Company of The Ballet School. She is currently interning at this well-established
Company that is led by San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award and Shellie Award Winner, Jennifer
Perry. She participates in the Junior Statesmen program, and regularly volunteers for local community based
organizations: Glide Memorial Church, St. Anthony’s, and The Golden Gate National Parks Conservatory. Nia
serves as President of the Black Student Union at her school and has been selected to represent Doherty Valley
High at the EDGE Youth Leadership Conference at UC Berkeley. She also serves as teen Vice President of the
Contra Costa Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Upon graduation from Dougherty Valley High School, Nia
plans to attend Brown University and major in behavioral and social sciences.
