Client objectives:
We were one of 3 suppliers initially engaged by a global medical diagnostics client to fill 5 contract placements which subsequently increased to 24 placements. These were highly niche roles with
a requirement for specific skills. Our client was looking for SAP specialists experienced in Toll Manufacturing to deliver global business systems solution across Asia and EU. The project that the candidates would be working on would deliver
a multi-£m saving for our client. Therefore they required candidates experienced in delivering change requests as well as having a medical device background which was deemed as an essential requirement.
The roles also required that the candidates be fluent in Japanese as although the role was based in UK, there would be a requirement to travel to Japan for approximately 50% of year.
The requirements for the candidates was extremely urgent due to related FDA issues. It was essential therefore that the project was delivered on time and on budget.
Strategy:
We immediately allocated a dedicated team of 5 to the project as well as taking the time to meet with our client’s stakeholders (Senior Directors/ Operational Directors/ Global-Validation Manager) to confirm a detailed understanding of the project and the role requirements. We compiled a detailed Needs Analysis Document as well as a Vacancy Confirmation Report to show to our client that we had fully understood the parameters of the project.
The initial focus of the project team was to quickly research and map the market place. We focused on our existing network along with investigating the well established candidates in the job market. We used our excellent candidate relationships and database of existing/previous placements as well to supplement the list of potential candidates.
To ensure that the short list was fit for purpose, we applied a rigorous sifting process to identify suitable candidates and supplemented this
by interviewing short-listed candidates before recommending them to our client.
We placed all 5 initial placements within 2 weeks with only 3 days needed for the first placement, our competitors were unable to recommend any potential candidates in the same timeframe. Following this result, our client informed us
that they had another 19 roles they were recruiting for. They stopped using our competitors AND existing consultancy partner as our contractor quality was better. We offered our client more flexibility which resulted in better value to our client and candidates.
The same methodology was applied for the additional roles and this same process delivered a further 50 candidates who were presented to our client. In turn 43 were interviewed and 19 were placed. The whole process was managed by us with our client being kept informed every step of the way which included progress reports every 2 days. This was supplemented with follow up phone calls to confirm understanding and consistency of approach.
