   Case Study 2
Client Objectives
Our client was seeking .NET developers and front end JavaScript developers. They are based in Maastricht and because of their location they had significant problems sourcing the right people.
Maastricht is a location which suffers from a lack of experienced IT professionals, due to the largest companies being in the west of the country. In addition, young people move on at an early
age to cities like Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam. Therefore it’s hard to find qualified people local to Maastricht.
Our client was working with two local suppliers, but they had serious problems with finding the right people in that area.
We had been in contact with them previously and we had offered them solutions for their vacancies. To begin with, they weren’t really receptive to working with a company from Amsterdam, simply because they felt that we were far away and culturally we didn’t match with them.
However, as we were continuously offering the right solution within the timeframe, they gave us the chance to fill their positions.
Strategy
We didn’t only look at people in the area of Maastricht but we reached out to our whole network to attract people who were not necessarily local, but were willing to relocate to Maastricht. This qualification procedure gave us a much wider scope than the other local companies that they were working with.
Challenges
The location was a problem as 90 to 95% of the people that were technically a good fit were not able or prepared to commute to Maastricht.
Solutions
We approached everybody we were able to source. We not only looked in The Netherlands but also in Belgium and Germany (Maastricht is close to both borders). By approaching a bigger pool of suitable candidates we were able to find people who were willing to work in this location.
We negotiated with our client to be more flexible on the work situation and to allow remote working supplemented with regular visits to our clients site. This allowed us to look at a much larger pool of candidates.
Results
We supplied our client with 53 shortlisted candidates which resulted in 24 interviews taking place. Our client made 7 appointments.
