    Challenges Faced
The role was based in a remote area of The Netherlands but required a native Spanish speaker. This niche requirement was exacerbated by the need for the candidate to have specific gas turbine services experience. It took some time to negotiate the terms
of the offer as the candidate was a procurement specialist with excellent negotiation skills. Also she was living in Madrid and the role required moving to The Netherlands, so it was important that our client put together a great package to secure her.
Our Solution
Due to the nature of the requirements, we focused our research activity on two geographical locations: The Netherlands and Spain. We utilised our existing contacts network to gather information for our market maps, and conducted salary benchmarking to fully understand the market place.
When the negotiations reached a stalemate, we used our expertise and legal department to advise our
client about the 30% tax ruling for skilled migrants
that applies in The Netherlands. We supported the candidate through her application for the ruling and a successful outcome was achieved. This meant that our client could stay within the budget set for the role whilst the candidate received a more favourable net income. We also supported the candidate with her relocation needs and helped her to find accommodation in
The Netherlands.
Success/Innovation
A headhunt approach and focusing on the two locations gave us access to a much wider talent pool than if we had just focused on Spanish speakers
in The Netherlands. Our expert understanding of
the international gas turbines market enabled us to network and build accurate market maps quickly. This in turn enabled us to get through to offer stage rapidly. Our experience of cross-border and international recruiting, alongside an extensive knowledge of
the Dutch market, enabled us to find a compromise solution that worked for both our client as well as candidate regarding remuneration.
Results
We pulled together a shortlist of 5 potential candidates which was presented to our client within 2 weeks of the project being allocated. 2 of the candidates were selected for final interview with 1 of the 2 interviewed being offered the role. The candidate who was offered the role accepted after some in-depth negotiations.
Since this project, our client has since come to us exclusively for another 3 roles and we are now preferred supplier for permanent roles and under a framework agreement for freelance roles.
