Client Objectives
We are on the Preferred Supplier List for
our client, who use us to place difficult roles exclusively on retainer. Our client approached us as they required a lead Instrumentation engineer with a specific set of specialist technical skills and experience around process and electrical engineering. They were also looking for the person to have consultancy experience in sales, communications, project acquisition and process standardisation.
Having undergone an internal merger with another company, our client had significant strategic expansion goals and needed the candidate to bring an established network with them to support this. The role was also located in a fairly remote location.
Strategy
Given the niche nature of the role requirements, a focused headhunting approach was needed. We initially met with all relevant stakeholders (Department Heads/HR) at our client and compiled a detailed Needs Analysis Report for our client to sign off which in turn was used to create a detailed Job Specification.
Our sourcing strategy centred on headhunting & networking methodology as there was limited advertising opportunities in this
industry. We adopted a multi phase approach to the recruitment for this role with the initial part focusing on research. We conducted in-depth global research along with competitor analysis and developed detailed market maps which uncovered 200 potential candidates from initial market mapping.
We resourced this project with a dedicated team of 5 who interviewed potential candidates to produce a pre-screened shortlist for our client. They were kept informed every step of the way through 3x weekly communications.
The recruitment process continued over
a 2 month cycle of approaches, interviews and ultimately rejections by us and/or
our client followed on by market research and further insights in the job market.
Our client was kept informed every step of the way through Weekly Progress Reports which in turn resulted in further actions and agreed next steps.
Due to the very specific nature of the role requirements, it was very difficult to find
a candidate that met all of the required parameters. Numerous candidates were selected however none of the candidates met the exacting requirements with some having too little experience whilst others were too senior. Others had skill sets that were too broad whilst others had too narrow a skill set.
