Following a review, we met with our client
to discuss the role profile as it was felt
that it was too broad. We reviewed the requirements to identify whether there was any flexibility on the parameters. A number were highlighted and agreed upon. This resulted in an updated Job Specification being confirmed with our client and the candidate search recommenced. This new Job Specification meant that a new cohort
of candidates being identified and screened. Long listed candidates were contacted and phone interviews were conducted to assess their suitability and motivations. This resulted in a new shortlist being delivered to our client, along with another Progress Report.
Challenges
This was a particularly challenging assignment as the role required a very specific and unique hybrid of skills and experience. The remote location of the office also meant that it was very challenging to attract relevant candidates and this was coupled with an unusually long search period as our client’s initial expectations and requirements were too broad.
Solutions
We focused the research primarily in
The Netherlands as our client is a Dutch business. We made sure that we kept in touch with candidates after the initial contact so that we could re-connect with them after the job profile had been reset with our client.
We made sure that the shortlisted candidates were briefed and primed. A key solution
that really helped with the process was pre- booking interview slots with our client which helped to create clear deadlines. This in
turn meant that our client was able to move quickly once suitable candidates were found. This really sped up the whole process.
Success
Other recruitment consultancies may have walked away to fill easier jobs, but we
stuck with the project. We maintained our relationship with our client and secured enough trust to influence our client and refine the Job Specification. Our unique networking approach allowed us to identify and approach an ‘invisible candidate’ who was offered and consequently accepted the role. We had initially made contact through his wife!
Our adherence to clear process and agreed methodology along with the excellent relationship with our client allowed us to successfully address the challenges. We maintained our commitment to providing
a quality solution and we ensured that we found the right candidate for our client and not just any candidate to get the job filled.
The candidate was successfully placed with our client and the feedback that we received from the HR lead from our client was that the candidate was a “great match” and more work would follow!
