A pioneer in comedic reality programming and a 50-year entertainment industry veteran, Peabody and three-time Emmy Award- winning Executive Producer Vin Di Bona is the creator and executive producer of America’s Funniest Home Videos. Now in its 31st year, AFV is the longest-running, primetime entertainment show in the history of ABC.
Di Bona is not only credited with bringing the reality genre to network broadcasting, 30 years later, it is evident that he also set the stage for today’s universal YouTube culture by creating an appetite and platform for user-generated content.
His diverse experience in producing and directing includes television movies, broadcast and cable series, network specials, music award shows and variety programming. Among them: Entertainment Tonight, MacGyver, Sherman Oaks, For the Love of Nancy, Animal Crack-Ups and America’s Funniest People.
In 2010 Di Bona launched FishBowl Worldwide Media specifically to develop properties for television, digital platforms and brands. Recently launched were 13 episodes of Lovely Bites for OWN and Discovery +. Previous series include Insane Pools... Off the Deep End, Trans Am, Caroline and Friends and Upload with Shaquille O’Neal. Currently in production is an animal series for Nat Geo and in development is a unique crime series for IMDB.
FishBowl, along with Vin Di Bona Productions, manages the world’s largest curated library of cleared user-generated content utilized worldwide by advertisers and major brands. With the explosion of social media AFV’s web sites have garnered 80 million fans and two billion views a month. The show is often in the top five television programs for fan engagement.
In 2007 Di Bona celebrated his lifelong television passion and career when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was further honored in 2009 when the iconic AFV became a part of history when it joined the permanent entertainment collections of the Smithsonian Institution.
Di Bona served four years as chairman for The Caucus for Television Producers, Writers & Directors and received their prestigious Chair’s Award. He is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Emerson College and is on the Board of Directors for Paulist Productions and the Petersen Automobile Museum. Di Bona also serves on the Board of Directors for the Smithsonian Institution.
