             1   Calculate the mean for each set of data, giving your answer correct to one decimal place.

             3   The monthly wages of 11 full-time staff who work in a restaurant are as follows:

                 $820,   $520,   $860,   $2000,   $800,   $1600,   $760,   $810,   $620,   $570,   $650

                 a   Find their median wage.              b   Calculate their mean wage.

                 c   How many of the staff earn more than:
                 i   the median wage                      ii   the mean wage?



             4   Town Team scored 315 runs in nine games of cricket.

                 What is the smallest number of runs they need to score in their next match to get a higher average
                 (mean) score?


             5   The numbers of runs that a cricketer scored in seven innings were:
                 48, 32, 0, 62, 11, 21, 43

                 a   Calculate the mean number of runs in the seven innings.
                 b   After eight innings his mean score increased to 33 runs per innings. How many runs did he
                     score in his eighth innings?


             6   The mean age of a group of   8 walkers is 42. Joanne joins the group and the mean age changes
                 to 40. How old is Joanne??



             7   A class of 18 boys and 12 girls sit for a Science exam.
                 The mean mark for the boys is 62.5 %

                 The mean mark for the girls is 58.75 %
                 Work out the mean mark for the whole class.
