 Ban Na Dao, Soem Ngam District, Lampang Province
Ban Na Dao is a small village with more than 300 households, located in Soem Ngam District, Lampang Province. Its strength is the rigid gathering of housewife group to weave cotton for clothing used in household and sold as another supplementary job.
Most of members in Lampang City Weaving Group are housewives who spend their free time after harvest or during farming to weave fabric for household use such as loincloth, phasin (sarong), blanket, etc. However, as for Ban Na Dao, what makes it different from other communities is the effort to use the nature and manpower to weave homespun, including cotton planting, cotton flower collection, transforming cotton flower to be fibers, transforming fibers to be cotton strings, weaving on local loom and dyeing with natural dyestuff made from Indigo tree own planted. All reflects the ancestors’ ideas and intellects taught, collected and inherited of handicraft works to generations and become the works with overwhelmed value and pride of Lampang people.
