Our future craft philosophy is to make a strong connection between tradition and future, and translate the cultural story behind into a design.
The product was derived from the warm welcome ceremonies of local people, such as performances, wrist- binding ceremony and the colorful clothing and temples, combined with the survey of living and feeling of new generation people living alone in the big city. It was found that most new generation people feel lonely and depressed when returning their accommodation and met nobody to welcome them, especially on the day that they feel tired and wish to hug someone. Dan and June then selected these moments to combine with Thai people’s warm welcome culture and Thai daily color practices. The result became the international product responding the needs of new generation people with the gorgeous feature, contemporary and incredible warmness.
Color Calendar: The wall clock showing date and time with multi-colored lights based on Thai color of the day. It was designed from the concept about the welcome and colorfulness. The body of the clock was inspired by Thai architecture and handicraft, like the shape of candle flame providing the warm feeling. The colors and reflecting light will be changed once a day, showing the change of date in calendar. The surface of the clock will change the color every hour while there are the minute and the hour hands as same as the general clock. It could be installed at the entry of the house or bedroom in order to allow the light welcoming you when returning home. In the night time or midnight, the user shall see the mixture of colors or when he/she wakes up in the morning before turning the curtain, the clock will tell you which day of today by lighting at the wall. Another work is the wall lantern derived from the ancient symbol of Lanna people. It was used to decorate the house in compliance with the belief relating the sacred items for house protection called Kalae and Hamyon. Dan and June then interpreted these symbols and minimized some details to design the lantern with contemporary feature by using the golden and red colors to express the high level of Thai arts and create warmness, respectively. It could be sold in the global market as well.
