SEC. 7118. FORT DAVIS NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE.
Public Law 87–213 (16 U.S.C. 461 note) is amended as follows: (1) In the first section—
(A) by striking ‘‘the Secretary of the Interior’’ and inserting ‘‘(a) The Secretary of the Interior’’;
(B) by striking ‘‘476 acres’’ and inserting ‘‘646 acres’’; and
(C) by adding at the end the following:
‘‘(b) The Secretary may acquire from willing sellers land com-
prising approximately 55 acres, as depicted on the map titled ‘Fort Davis Proposed Boundary Expansion’, numbered 418/80,045, and dated April 2008. The map shall be on file and available for public inspection in the appropriate offices of the National Park Service. Upon acquisition of the land, the land shall be incorporated into the Fort Davis National Historic Site.’’.
(2) By repealing section 3.
Subtitle C—Special Resource Studies
SEC. 7201. WALNUT CANYON STUDY.
(a) DEFINITIONS.—In this section:
(1) MAP.—The term ‘‘map’’ means the map entitled ‘‘Walnut
Canyon Proposed Study Area’’ and dated July 17, 2007.
(2) SECRETARIES.—The term ‘‘Secretaries’’ means the Sec- retary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture, acting
jointly.
(3) STUDY AREA.—The term ‘‘study area’’ means the area
identified on the map as the ‘‘Walnut Canyon Proposed Study Area’’.
(b) STUDY.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretaries shall conduct a study of the study area to assess—
(A) the suitability and feasibility of designating all or part of the study area as an addition to Walnut Canyon National Monument, in accordance with section 8(c) of Public Law 91–383 (16 U.S.C. 1a–5(c));
(B) continued management of the study area by the Forest Service; or
(C) any other designation or management option that would provide for—
(i) protection of resources within the study area; and
(ii) continued access to, and use of, the study area by the public.
(2) CONSULTATION.—The Secretaries shall provide for public comment in the preparation of the study, including con- sultation with appropriate Federal, State, and local govern- mental entities.
