INTRODUCTION
When employers support the advanced education of their employees,
patient outcomes improve, employees are happier, and they experience
bottom-line benefits such as improved employee retention.
Employees that earn advanced degrees positively impact their employers
every day. From implementing new processes and procedures, to utilizing
healthcare business knowledge to run facilities, healthcare professionals
that continue their education bring knowledge and new skills to the
industry. Additionally, students find satisfaction leveraging their education
to make improvements for their employers and the healthcare industry.
The 2014 study, “Economic Evaluation of the 80% Baccalaureate Nurse
Workforce Recommendation,” revealed that a 10 percent increase in the
proportion of baccalaureate nurses on hospital units correlated with an 11
percent decrease in patient mortality. Also, a study by Accenture funded
1
by Lumina Foundation, which focused on Cigna, found that for every
dollar it spent on its educational reimbursement program, it got back $1
and saved another $1.29 through reduced employee turnover and lower
recruiting costs.

At American Sentinel University, we purposely designed our curriculum for
working nurses pursuing advanced degrees. We focus solely on healthcare
and are 100 percent online. We have educated students at some of the
top healthcare organizations in the country: Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic,
John’s Hopkins University, Geisinger Health Systems and more. These
students, along with thousands more, have helped solve problems for their
organizations and for the healthcare industry as a whole.
We invite you to read about some of our amazing students and how they
have helped their organizations thrive.
