Firecracker, back at DronFest by popular demand
All set for more music festival fun
Local music fans are counting the days until this summer’s DronFest event in the town’s Cliffe Park
T HE line-up for Dronfield’s popular DronFest community music festival has been confirmed.
The Cliffe Park event, on Saturday, 4th August, raises valuable funds for local charities including Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, and showcases the best of local and regional talent throughout the afternoon and evening.
With acts Doomsday Outlaw and Jungle Lion already announced, the headline act, Mr Tea and the Minions, has been confirmed to play at the end of the evening. Other popular acts, EZIO, Johnny & The Moondogs, Liberty Ship, Badlands, Firecracker and Ribeye will also be on stage from 1.30pm. Teenager Jacob Cook, from here in Dronfield, will also be performing an acoustic set.
Festival organiser, John Aspinall, said: “This year’s DronFest is set to be one of the best yet. A fantastic day out for music lovers, families and anyone who wants to enjoy what we hope will be the best of the summer and having a great time with friends and family.”
On the day there will be food and drink stalls, massages, hair-styling, a clairvoyant, henna tattoos and a tombola.
All proceeds from drinks sales will go to the nominated charities. Families will be able to enjoy bouncy castles, inflatable games, face-painting, ice cream, a children’s workstation and a treasure hunt.
Tickets are £14 per adult including one child aged eight-15, £10 for over-65s and £5 for children aged 8-15. Under-eights get in free if accompanied by an adult. To buy tickets, visit dronfest.co.uk/#tickets
Riders on the ball at Cowley event

A DISABLED horse rider has combined his love of being in the saddle with his passion for
football – all for a good cause.
Steven Basford, from Dronfield, has lessons at
Cowley Riding School, one of the bases of Sheffield Group Riding for the Disabled, and is helping the charity to raise funds for a new hoist, other equipment and to pay for lessons for disabled riders.
Steven’s event was an Owls v Blades group dressage derby involving teams of three riders which finished in a 1:1 draw. More than £1,000 has been raised by the day so far.
Entertainment at the Parish Church
D RONFIELD Parish Church Choir and Friends are to present ‘Another Evening of Musical
Entertainment’ at Dronfield Parish Church.
The concert, on Sunday, July 22nd, at 7pm, features
light-hearted music with songs and medleys from shows, instrumentalists and solo singers.
The conductor is Gavin Ward and accompanist is Karen Cook.
Tickets are £7.50, from the church office on 01246 412328 or from choir members.
All proceeds go to local charities.
