The Area’s Culture and Beauty is Presented in Nine Regional Exhibits
Florida’s Finest en Plein Air Exhibition:
A Tribute to Florida’s Plein Air Talent
A special tribute to the remarkable wealth of plein air talent in the State of Florida, the exhibition will bring together paintings from across the state’s 65,758 square miles. Each of the paintings feature Florida scenes, painted in Florida, by Florida artists. The exhibit will highlight the work of the Florida’s Finest Ambassadors, a special presentation of paintings submitted by Florida’s plein air artists juried by Morgan Samuel Price. The work is available for viewing and purchase at the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art, 86 Water Street.
Masters Gallery:
Inspired Paintings
Upstairs in the historic building housing the Center for History, Culture and Arts in Apalachicola, invited artists display their nest studio work, inspired by plein air studies from the Forgotten Coast event. This exhibit exempli es the tradition of artists taking a series of smaller pieces produced out of doors back to their studio, and producing the larger, fully developed paintings you will see at the Masters Gallery. All works are available for viewing and purchase. Visit the Masters Gallery for information and sales at the Center for History, Culture and Art, 86 Water Street, Apalachicola. Open 11 am-5 pm daily.
Quickdraw Exhibit:
The Best of the 2017 Quickdraw Competition
A selection of the best paintings from the 2017 Quickdraw competition will be selected to hang as a tribute to the “two hour challenge.” Many times some of the most spontaneous and creative pieces result from the competitive process. The exhibit may be viewed and purchased at the Rio Carrabelle Gallery, 102 St. James Avenue, Carrabelle. Open 11 am-5 pm daily.
Artists’ Choice Collection:
Invited Artists Select the Best of the Best
Each year at the “Collectors’ Gala,” the invited artists select what they consider the “best” painting of the 10 day event. The Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition purchases that painting and adds it to a growing collection. The exhibit can be viewed at the Port Inn, 501 Monument Avenue, Port St. Joe, 11 am-5 pm
Founder’s Collection:
An Artists’ Tribute
In 2010 a special collection of plein air work was donated by the invited artists to honor the event’s founder, Richard Carrell. The exhibit can be seen at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf, 3801 East Highway 98, Port St. Joe, 11 am-5 pm
