TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT 162 BRANCHVILLE ROAD
1. We love pulling through the entry gates under the giant 150 year old maples
that perfectly frame the driveway. Driving up to the house and seeing its beauty
still takes our breath away.
2. We love the property and spending evenings on the back patio. The hydrangeas
that frame the patio makes it quite a setting for backyard dinner parties. The fenced-
in backyard has a park-like setting and is the perfect spot for our children to play. We’ll
also miss our sport court and the ease of many sports activities without leaving home.
3. The property has so many beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees! The side garden is just
stunning in the summertime. The astilbe, coneflowers and numerous plantings draw
so many butterflies. We have countless hydrangeas and the gazebo is overflowing with
color in summer months.
4. We love cozy family holidays spent at home. While the house is breathtaking
in summer months it is also picturesque in the fall and winter. It has the perfect
backdrop for wreaths and garland and was also featured on the town’s holiday
house tour. It is the perfect winter retreat.
5. We’ll miss Spring. The house really starts to come alive in Spring! We have
numerous cherry blossoms and crabapples that create a sea of white blooms on
the perimeter and east side of the property. It is such a special time of year.
6. We love our kitchen! It is the true heart of our home and is a chef’s dream
with high-end appliances, calcutta marble counters, farmsink and beautiful
custom island.
7. Our breakfast nook is probably our favorite and most used spot in the
house. It is flooded with morning light and the perfect place to have a cup of
coffee and watch the seasons change.
8. We love the warmth and character of the house. From the moment you walk
in you feel cozy, comfortable and at ease. We love the historic aspect of the
house. This warmth can’t be replicated in any new house. It was built by one of
the founding families in Ridgefield and still retains so much of its classic beauty
from the late 1700’s.
9. While the house is an antique it has many modern conveniences. A full house
renovation was completed in 2012 including all new mechanicals, a lutron lighting
system which makes entertaining easy with the hit of a button and a whole-house
generator.
10. We love the kind letters we receive from passerbys and heartfelt complements from
friends and strangers alike. We have often heard the phrase “the most beautiful house in town”
by admirers of this special home.
