TOP 10 THINGS WE'LL MISS ABOUT LIFE AT 289 FAIR OAK DRIVE
1. We have loved the convenience of a lower Greenfield Hill location. The
neighborhood cul-de-sac is 7 minutes to downtown, 3 minutes to the local market,
liquor store, and one of the best restaurants in CT, Bonda. Also, easy access to the
Merritt or 1-95 and just under 10 minutes to the train station.
2. Our tranquil setting! Starting our day with a cup of coffee on the front porch as the
sun rises and shines on the front of the house and finishing the day sipping wine on the
back Loggia (or upper deck) as the sun sets across the adjacent horse farm. The stone
walls, the horses playing in the field, the abundance of birds and wildlife taking advantage
of the natural and protected land trust surrounding the balance of the property.
3. Entertaining in our home! The open floor plan allows for a great flow whether it’s just
a few or many. The Kitchen attracts most of the attention but can quickly open to the
fabulous loggia and outdoor fireplace. The music system plays throughout the many
rooms as the party migrates to the informal Great Room, Billiard room, and the Dining
Room.
4. It’s been wonderful to be able to accommodate so many cars in our expansive
driveway and parking area. From hosting family events to charity events, there’s never
been a shortage of parking options.
5. Having 8 land locked acres of the Aspetuck Land Trust adjacent to our property
provides so much privacy! We’ve enjoyed walking the dog, cross country skiing,
picking wild raspberries as well as just watching the wildlife in the area.
6. The main floor en suite bedroom has been a blessing as we have been able
to accommodate my father. The location of the bedroom offers him a sense of
privacy as well as a stair-free environment. The smaller Family Room on the
opposite side of the home on the main floor will also easily convert to a full in-
law suite and is plumbed for a washer/dryer. Multi-generational living is totally
possible!
7. Being wine collectors, we have thoroughly enjoyed the custom wine cellar in
the lower level.
8. The third floor Office suite is the perfect work-from-home atmosphere! It’s
spacious, sunny and quiet. This Office suite could easily be a nannie suite or
playroom as well.
9. We love to cook and entertain so when we designed our Kitchen, we wanted all the
bells and whistles! Appliances and finishes all contributed to the experience we wanted to
create in this all-important room in our home.
10. Spending time outdoors on the Loggia has been a favorite! Whether dining al fresco with
family and friends or just finishing the day sipping wine by the stone fireplace, it’s a wonderful three
season pleasure!
