Race Against Dementia identity
“Motivated by the devastating diagnosis of his wife, Helen, Formula One legend Sir Jackie Stewart founded Race Against Dementia, a new charitable initiative that funds research toward preventive medicine and a cure for dementia. Sir Jackie appointed the London-based global brand strategy and design agency Brand Union to develop the clear positioning, brand name and visual identity needed to help him achieve his goal. Brand Union began by creating the name Race Against Dementia, bridging the gap between Sir Jackie’s racing past and the urgency of his charitable cause. A deliberate, graphic fragmentation of the letter D highlights the distortion and disorientation experienced by those suffering from dementia while harnessing the speed and thrill of motorsport.”

Coldplay ‘Up&Up’ music video
“When Coldplay’s label, Parlophone, invited director Vania Heymann to create a video to match the lyrics of ‘Up&Up,’ he faced a huge technical challenge: perfectly stitching together images from moving cameras that would capture disproportionate scales. So in order to match camera movements regardless
of scale, Heymann and his team utilized a motion-controlled camera arm that could be operated with hyperspecific range. First, they tracked footage in 3-D. Next, they did the calcu- lations necessary to translate a grand-scale shot, like camera movement on a helicopter ride, to a much smaller environment, like a bathtub. Then they inputted information into the motion- control system, matched the set and footage lighting, and rotoscoped footage in order to layer it. The result: a moving collage pieced together perfectly that yields a great response.”
