To My Brothers and Partners In Crime,

Frank Herbert once said, "There is no real ending, just the place where you
stop the story." My story as a DeMolay has finally reached its last chapter. The
journey of reaching the end of my story has been a colorful one painted by regrets,
successes, mistakes, accomplishments, enemies and friends . I believe that the
key to life is change and that throughout my time as a DeMolay I went through
many phases. We as DeMolays change throughout our story even if we are unaware
of it. We begin as pupils, we turn into leaders and develop into teachers. Growing
up in DeMolay we take and learn from the older leaders and teachers so that, one
day, we can do what they do. We develop into leaders, maybe not always on
purpose, but we do, we start to run meetings, plan events, speak with grace and
carry ourselves with dignity, impartiality and courtesy . Eventually there comes a
time as a DeMolay were we do less learning and more teaching. This is the time
where we retire from the glory and the limelight of being a leader so that we may
teach those who will follow us. I may have reached the end to my story as leader
but there is no real ending for this is the beginning of my time as a teacher. Thank
you guys very much for supporting me as a leader.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Forrest Johnson
