visible to the naked eye in broad daylight. One day on Venus is 116d
18h. A day on Venus lasts longer than a year. Venus rotates in the
opposite direction to most other planets. Atmospheric pressure on
Venus is 92 times greater than the Earth's. Its distance from the sun
is 108.2 million km.
Earth - Earth is the third planet from the Sun and
the only astronomical object known to harbour life
and oceans. Earth formed over 4.5 billion years ago.
Earth's gravity interacts with other objects in
space, especially the Sun and the Moon, which is
Earth's only natural satellite. Earth orbits around
the Sun in 365.265 days. Earth's axis of rotation is
tilted with respect to its orbital plane, producing
seasons on Earth. The gravitational interaction between Earth and the
Moon causes tides, stabilizes Earth's orientation on its axis, and
gradually slows its rotation. Earth is the densest planet in the Solar
System and the largest and most massive of the four rocky planets.
Mars - Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and
the second-smallest planet in the Solar System after
Mercury. Mars is sometimes called the Red Planet.
It's red because of rusty iron in the ground. Like
Earth, Mars has seasons, polar ice caps, volcanoes,
canyons, and weather. It has a very thin atmosphere
made of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and argon. Its
